The system is expected to go live within the next 18 months.

PAN 2.0 is a fully digital, integrated system that combines all Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number (TAN) services under a single platform. Whether you need to apply for a new card, update your details, reissue a lost card, or verify PAN information, the process will be streamlined into one easy-to-use interface.

How to Apply for PAN 2.0

For Existing PAN Holders

You don’t need to reapply. Simply request the upgraded QR-enabled version through NSDL or UTIITSL.

For New Applicants

You will need:

  • Proof of Identity – Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence.
  • Proof of Address – Utility bill, bank statement, rent agreement, or Aadhaar.
  • Proof of Date of Birth – Birth certificate, school leaving certificate, or passport.

Steps via NSDL

  1. Visit the NSDL PAN Request Page.
  2. Enter your PAN, Aadhaar, and Date of Birth.
  3. Verify using OTP (sent via email/SMS).
  4. Agree to terms and make payment (₹8.26 if not issued in the last 30 days).
  5. Receive your e-PAN in your email within minutes.

Steps via UTIITSL

  1. Visit the UTIITSL PAN Request Page.
  2. Enter your PAN, Date of Birth, and captcha.
  3. Confirm your registered email address.
  4. Request e-PAN (free if issued in the last 30 days).
  5. Receive the e-PAN PDF in your inbox.
